We saw ROBINS TODAY, JAN 2, 2010
I don't know if they are late leaving, or early coming... But one thing I always know for sure is that they do my heart good! As I child I always heard that when you start seeing robins means that spring 'weather' isn't far off. So you can imagine our surprise today when we (my dear husband) and I saw robins (must have been 9 or 10 or them at least). Twelve days into winter!! The older we get, the less we like winter weather! So, we always look forward to the robins and spring 'weather'.. Maybe God just sent them so we would remember (today in the cold and blustry wind) that spring will come! Thanks Lord, how great You are!!!
It also reminded me of the Christmas story about the Robin and how it got it's reddened breast. It was called THE LEGEND OF THE ROBIN REDBREAST. It is a very sweet short story, precious actually, one that gives you that 'warm, fuzzy feeling'. And it brought to mind this little short, short poem by Emily Dickinson about the robin... Poor little things today in all that wind, but I know without a doubt that God made a safe way for them to live, even in the cold wind.
Psalm 50:11 I know all the birds of the mountains,And the wild beasts of the field are Mine. Psalm 104:12By them the birds of the heavens have their home;They sing among the branches.
Matthew 10:29Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. (guess that goes for Robins too, don't you agree?)
IF I CAN STOP
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

You truly are an awesome God, and we are thankful to be part of Your family,Your children. Thanks for loving, forgiving and saving us, In Jesus name we pray, amen.
