The Waste in Worry
by Brad Stevens If we were to keep a record of all the things we worried about during a given period of time, we would discover–in reviewing them–that the great majority of our anticipated problems or troubles never come to pass. This means that most of the time we devote to worrying, even the constructive kind that prompts us to try to come up with a solution to what is troubling us, is wasted. Thus, we not only caused our self unnecessary mental anguish, but also took up valuable minutes and hours that could have been spent elsewhere. To avoid this, it is often necessary to subject potential sources of worry to the coldly objective and analytical light of reason. Once, shortly before a major concert before a standing-room- only audience, a member of Arturo Toscanini’s orchestra approached the great Italian conductor with an expression of sheer terror on his face. “Maestro,” the musician fretted, “my instrument is not working properly. I cannot reach the note of E-flat. Whatever will I do? We are to begin in a few moments.” Toscanini looked at the man with utter amazement. Then he smiled kindly and placed an arm around his shoulders. “My friend,” the maestro replied, “Do not worry about it. The note E-flat does not appear anywhere in the music that you will be playing this evening.” The next time we find ourselves in the middle of worrying about some matter, we might be wise to stop and ask ourselves what the odds are of the problem really coming to pass. We may be able to go on to ================something more constructive.====================
Uggg, we had pizza for supper tonight.. along with bread sticks and sauce.. The pizza was really good, and the bread sticks were great (while we were eating them but later in the night..my reflux problem was "out of control") Makes the second or third time lately that I've ate something and then it turn around and tried to "eat me"... Wow, I don't want to do that again... and probably it wasn't even the brand.. it was just my tummy and reflux for that given day.. Then again, it's acted up for days now.. I guess I should have known better.. The bread sticks were wonderful and didn't bother either of us.. wish I could say the same for the pizza.
Two cows are standing next to each other in a field. Daisy says to Dolly, "I was artificially inseminated this morning." "I don't believe you," says Dolly. "It's true; no bull!" exclaims Daisy. thanks Joni.. I will be using more of the ones you sent.. Hope you, John, Ashley, and your parents are doing well. Mr Dilley said to tell you all HI! ======== Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before.
The Red Hots, had another Volley ball game today.. this time, won two out of three.. many of the girls are really beginning to improve.. ............. CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS.. WE LOVE YOU ALL!! ...........We went and then ran to the groc store for fixings for Nathan's banana pudding that HE is going to make tomorrow, and came straight home.. My tummy is acting crazy! (but I'm not sick, at all.. just a tummy ache and acid reflux) uggg Maybe part of my problems is that "bad word.. WORRY" and or stress! Back to my "Unspoken prayer request.. please and thank you"
Norman J (our son) and Leisa, ran the kids up later in the day, they are wanting to spend the night again tonight.. We enjoy any and all of the grandchildren staying... Abigail shortly was down for a three hour nap.. then to our surprise (*.*) she couldn't sleep during the night.. But finally she did get back to sleep.. bless her heart, I was just as bad.. I was awake, laying still trying to fight off my tummy ache and gurd... and then finally for both of us.. we did manage to go back to sleep for a little while. It's miserable to be the only one awake during the night.. Everything seems worse.. Thanks God for peace and a restful night of sleep..We appreciate both
