AUTUMN FIRES...

As the days grow short, some faces grow long. But not mine. Every autumn, when the wind turns cold and darkness comes early, I am suddenly happy. It's time to start making soup again

lol, as if I don't cook enough at        work (*.*) But, I am grateful always for my job, and the insurance that I am able to carry of the two of us because of my job!

Autumn Fires.

In the other gardens

And all up the vale,
From outdoor autumn fireplaces
See the smoke trail!
The heat of summer overAnd all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The grey smoke towers.
Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the fall!
Robert Louis Stevenson

I MET MY HUSBAND ONCE I GOT OFF FROM WORK TODAY AND WE WENT AND PICKED OUT THE NEW PAINT FOR OUR KITCHEN CABINETS.. THEY REALLY NEED TO BE "UPDATED" SOME BEFORE WINTER COMES.. I THINK IT WILL LOOK AWESOME.. WE'LL JUST HAVE TO SEE.. (but I was so rainy and I hate painting when its raining.. it seems to just never dry) Besides, I was tired.. we had a very busy day at work today. So, we've got it but it will have to wait to be painted.. probably a 2 evening job (at least) since it's 2 colors!

He had went today and bought the last of the items we need to re-do our bathroom.. taking out the claw foot tub and putting in a great big shower "ahhhh" it will be just sooo nice! He plans on getting started on it Saturday "weather permitting". He needs help from our sons to get the tub out and that big shower in. (I'm not near as strong as I used to be!) But, the rest I think we can do ourselves.. And we've got a new window for the bathroom.. it's the last one we needed to have completed all of our windows to the newer fold in (for cleaning) and they act as both windows and storm windows in one.. So I'll be glad with it's done.. and we are ready, paint and all.. it will be a pretty blue bathroom when we are done with butterfly curtins and a few surprises hopefully! And I am glad that he stayed down and helped me pick the paints for the kitchen cabinets.. we've planned it, color and all a good while ago, just not the exact shades of colors.. I think it will be awesome! Also, he took me to Mama's Pizza for lunch, YUM! Good way to spend a rainy afternoon!

Then a rainy drive home..me in my little car and him in his pickup..  and once we got home, more rain.. So, he even went out and fed the  animals today, since I was really tired and cold! (both are hard on my arthritis & back troubles since an injury when I was about 8 years old) Brrrr, that rain was really cold! ANYWAY, THANKS BABE.. I APPRECIATE THE HELP!! Then we cuddled up together and napped some on the love sofa in front of the little infared heater.. ahh

The Full Original Copy of the Serenity Prayer
by Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971)
God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.
