CORNUCOPIA... aren't they pretty? I got and OLD one this summer and it's special..

Cornucopia

Cornucopia is the most common symbol of a harvest festival. A Horn shaped container, it is filled with abundance of the Earth's harvest. It is also known as the 'horn of plenty'. The traditional cornucopia was a curved goat's horn filled to brim with fruits and grains. According to Greek legend, Amalthea (a goat) broke one of her horns and offered it to Greek God Zeus as a sign of reverence. As a sign of gratitude, Zeus later set the goat's image in the sky also known as constellation Capricorn 

I don't know where the idea of a cornucopia came from.. but I personally think they are pretty neat! I bought one this summer at a yard sale of some of my parents friends from sooo many years ago.. theirs (mine now) hangs up and had (and will be remade to have) fall leaves and flowers and perhaps a few grapes hanging over the top and down the front... maybe I will take a picture of it once I get it done, and post it.. don't know why I havent done it yet?? My way of thinking, it's even more precious to me just knowing that Mom and Dad's friends owned it and from what they said, used it for many years. I helped a dear friend of mine, back when we were young teens babysit their kids once.. lol  I was reminded tonight on fb that it soon will be time for Thanksgiving! We've already decorated at school for it.. but won't be able  to leave it up to long because they like getting the Christmas things up for the little ones.. Myself, I love Thanksgiving.. one thing it's a little less stressful, and the time spent together is just as precious! At the same time, I am very thankful for each time I spend time with our family and loved ones.

AND AS ALWAYS, GIVING THANKS TO GOD FOR EVERYTHING HE HAS GIVEN TO EACH OF US. IN JESUS HOLY NAME WE PRAY, GIVING HIM THE HONOR, THANKS, PRAISE OUR LOVE AND GLORY, AMEN.
