IN LOVING MEMORY

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY DAD
TIMOTHY "JOE" SPARKS
AUGUST 10,1922- JANUARY 7,1990

I had a father who talked with me
Allowed me the right to disagree,
To question-and always answer me,
As well as he could- and truthfully
He talked of God, adventures, worries, and more
Of life, its meaning what love was for
How each would always need to strive
To improve our lives and keep love alive
Stressed the duty we owe one another
To be aware each person is a sister or brother
Precious sweet laughter he also shared
A funny song, or a silly joke
As time go on, some say I am wise
That I look at life with seeing eyes
My heart is so happy, my life is the Lords
I had a "Daddy" who talked with me.

Those we hold most dear
never truly leave us...
They live on in the kindnesses they showed,
The comfort they shared,
and the LOVE they taught,
By their very precious lives.

WHEN GOD MADE FATHERS..
When the good Lord was creating fathers, he started with a tall frame. A female angel nearby said, "What kind of a father is that? If you're going to make children so close to the ground, why have you put the father up so high? He won't be able to shoot marbles without kneeling, tuck a child in bed without bending, or even kiss a child without stooping" God smiled and said, "Yes, but if I make him child size, who would children have to look up to?" And when God made a father's hands, they were large. The angel shook her head and said, "Large hands can't manage diaper pins, small buttons, rubber bands on pony tails, or even remove splinters caused from baseball bats." Again God smiled and said, "I know, but they're large enough to hold everything a small boy empties from his pockets, yet small enough to cup a child's face in them." Then God molded long slim legs and broad shoulders, "Do you realize you just made a father without a lap?" The angel chuckled. God said, "A mother needs a lap. A father needs strong shoulders to pull a sled, to balance a boy on a bicycle, or to hold a sleepy head on the way home from the circus." When God was in the middle of creating the biggest feet any one had ever seen, the angel could not contain herself any longer. "That's not fair. Do you honestly think those feet are going to get out of bed early in the morning when the baby cries, or walk through a birthday party without crushing one or two of the guests?" God again smiled and said, "They will work. You will see. They will support a small child who wants to ride to Branbury Cross or scare mice away from a summer cabin, or display shoes that will be a challenge to fill." God worked throughout the night, giving the father few words, but a firm authoritative voice; eyes that see everything, but remain calm and tolerant. Finally, almost as an after thought, He added tears. Then he turned to the angel and said, "Now are you satisfied he can love as much as a mother can?" The angel said nothing more.

The Psalms 23
The LORD Is My Shepherd
A Psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures he leadeth me beside the still waters. Rev. 7.17
3 He restoreth my soul:he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

NOW FOR AN UPDATE ON MOM
she slept most of the day,
and the whole evening today.
However when she was up earlier in the day,
she was confused (seems to be the normal anymore)
"GOD BLESS, AND COMFORT PLEASE,
THY WILL BE DONE"
Also, her breathing was really shallow, 4 to 6 per minute
(during her sleep but then it has been for a good while.)
before left (hours earlier tonight) around 7:30
(but we had Abigail, and I don't want these memories of
Mom for her)
