BOY OH BOY, WAS IT MONDAY???

OH MY, HAS IT BEEN MONDAY ALL DAY, OR WHAT???

AFTER A SLEEPLESS NIGHT FOR BOTH OF US.. AND FIGHTING A HEADACHE MOST OF THE DAY, IT SURELY FELT GOOD ONCE NORMAN GOT HOME FOR THE EVENING, SUPPER WAS OVER, LAUNDRY DONE AND WE COULD JUST KICK BACK FOR AWHILE! (we surely appreciate our double recliner sofa, thanks God)

One of the questions pastors get asked a lot goes something like this: "What's the big deal if I do.... (and then the person names some little sin)?" Then they go on to explain "I can handle it. It's between me and the Lord". The first thing that comes to my mind are three basic scriptures this reasoning stands in contrast to: 1. I Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from the very appearance of evil.
2. Matt. 22:37
"Love the Lord with all your soul, heart, and mind."
3. Romans 14:13
"Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother's way".
Of course the real core issue with the person posing this question to start with is a lack of spiritual growth. We spend way to much time trying to "skirt" around God, as oppose to just being totally sold out to Him. This mind set is rampid in our culture today, its called mediocrity. "Do just enough to get by". It's stealing the hopes and dreams from our youth every day. We have decided to settle for less.

The problem:? less of God is more of Satan! Why give Satan a foothold to start with? You either serve God fully, or you do not serve Him at all. No on will ever "barely" make it to Heaven. You will either be there, or you won't. Yes, God is as clear as black and white. We are required to conduct our lives in such a way as to not promote failure in others. (Eph. 5:15) Do we make mistakes? YES!
Do others misinterpret what they see or hear? YES! Are we accountable for everything a person thinks about us? NO
BUT- we are accountable for the image we promote to them, even if we do it unintentionally. Once we realize we have projected a poor witness, we are accountable to try to make it right. YES! You might have to apologize for something you did - even if
you don't think it is wrong! Start out with this simple concept comprised of just three little words:
"I did it". We have lost the capacity in our lives (especially in churches) to say "I'm sorry" and to reconcile. This is directly in violation of scripture. It is tied to your pride. As long as you persist in refusing to repent and reconcile, you will repeat the same mistakes over and over again.
"Whatsoever you sow, you reap".
Remember, it's not about you, it's about HIM ! Ray

Thought for the Week
