The past few months, and Anna and Abigail's stories.. (and some OLD FAMILY PICTURES)

Well friends.. a lot has happened since I was posting daily.. First of all we moved into a very nice house on a level lot.. (thank God) Don't get me wrong, the other house was nice too.. but the driveway.. ugggg that hill! Anyway, we really like the neighborhood where we are and plan on staying here for as long as possible..

 This is part of our flowers that we planted a few weeks ago.. We have some plans to make it feel even more like home, and flowers are a part of it!

The little boy and girl reading their books are in honor to Abigail and Nathan's little Pomeranian they had named Spiderman.. (a large dog ran into their yard and killed him a few years back) Norman (their Dad..) brought Spiderman  to our house in the country and buried him in a shady place.. Since the kids both always loved to read.. we planted flowers  by his grave and placed the little boy and girl on the large flat rock that covered his grave. But when we moved, we took the boy and girl and always use them as a remembrance, in honor of Spiderman.

This peonie, was already here.. and very wonderfully so.. My Mom (and her mom before her) always had peonies.. reminds me of them, and that's a wonderful thing!

Now, the pot right beside the peonie also has to do with our heritage.. its a sage plant... a sacred plant for the Monacans.. many of us have chosen to embrace our heritage.. Our grandparents were Native Americans (when you see their picture (below) you will know it without a doubt)

Some of these >>> are flowers we've added to a few hosta's that were already here.. The cage is protecting one of our tomato plants.. and the rooster is standing guard! Sweet "Ole Roo" don't eat anything or make any messes.. lol

This area between the back steps and the basement steps is also tomato plants, protected by our two little pigs.. Henrietta and Buford.. lol Best little piglets you'll ever meet

This is our grandparents, Mae and John Clark..  Now do you have any doubt that they were of Native American blood..  And were very awesome and loving people!

Love and miss you Grandma and Granddad...  She Mrs Ella Mae Tyree Thompson Clark passed away in 1974 And Granddad.. Mr John Elmer Clark also passed away in the 1976

 This is Norman's heritage The first little  boy on your left as you are looking at this is his grandfather Coyd Wolfe.. the baby is Floyd Wolfe, the twins are Stella and Ella Wolfe (don't know which is which)
The gentleman his Dad and the lady sitting his Native American Mother... (this is his Mom's father... Her mother also was of Native American heritage..)
Tribal information has not been proven (that we know of on Norman's great grandmother) When I see Mrs Terry (Norman's Mom) I will get her to fill in the names of the others... we wish we knew..

Because of my Granddad's brother being on file as Monacan.. and blood proven.. We are joining the Monacan tribe. You have to be proven to be blood related to a tribe member and able to prove so.

Drum

Bear Mountain in Amherst County has been the home of the Monacan people for more than 10,000 years. The earliest written histories of Virginia record that in 1607, the James River Monacan (along with their Mannahoac allies on the Rappahannock River) controlled the area between the Fall Line in Richmond and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The most western of Virginia's eight tribes, the Monacan Nation - over 2,100 strong - preserves our past heritage and ancient customs, bringing together the Siouan language and culture.

And very happy to do so..  This was our first Powwow.. and it was awesome, we are learning about our ancestors and as much as we can.. Just embracing our heritage, and thankfully so..  trying to learn a few words and ways that they had (or at least our ancestors)...  We found them to be a "caring and thankful people" while at the Powwow..  Thanks for inviting us..

THIS IS KAYLA'S SISTER ANNA (ANOTHER OF OUR LOVING GRANDDAUHTERS STORY ABOUT THE HOUSE THEY SAW ON A RIDE THEY TOOK WITH THEIR PARENTS... ENJOY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is an old house on that mountain. I passed it only once, but I can still remember it clearly. It was small and built of boards, and it looked as though some giant had pushed it over. I've often wonder what tales it would tell, if it could talk. But it can not, and one can only imagine who lived there. Perhaps a man brought his wife there, or perhaps only a single man or woman lived in that house. Alas, no one will know what stories are in there. And perhaps that is how it should be.  ~Anna~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Since Anna's was so short, and so is Abigails.. I posted both of them.. All of these were written years ago...
"THE MIRACLE HOUSE"
One beautiful day an old couple were living happily in a lovely old farm house. They had lived in the house since the year 1960, and the following year they had a handsome baby boy named Samuel. Years later the old man died of an unknown illness, then one day a horrible twister hit the town. It destroyed most homes except for this one, which was just slightly leaned over. Nothing was damaged in the home, and the woman and her son wasn't harmed. It was said all over town that the old man was watching over his wife and son.  From that day on the house was called "The Miracle House."  But, after they died, the old house fell down and turned old.                  ~Abigail~
