YES, THAT'S US, 40 YEARS AGO TODAY
ON OUR WEDDING DAY!
AND NO, WE ARE NOT FANCY PEOPLE (THANKFULLY)
IN FACT, MY MOM MADE MY KNEE LENGTH DRESS (AND I LIKED IT AND IT WAS PERFECT FOR THE TWO OF US)
I HAD JUST TURNED 16 IN MARCH AND HE TURNED 24 THAT JUNE
WE WERE MARRIED AT MY MOM AND DAD'S HOUSE, THEN WE WENT TO CHURCH FOR AN 'ANNUAL' DINNER, THEN BACK TO MOM'S FOR WEDDING CAKE, THEN ON TO OUR APARTMENT! AND GEE, DID IT FEEL ODD LEAVING MY PARENTS HOUSE LATER IN THE EVENING "WITHOUT PERMISSION" AND KNOWING THAT MY LIFE WAS FOREVER CHANGED. AND HERE 40 YEARS LATER, I STILL WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING
(EVEN IF YOU COULD CHANGE THE PAST). IT'S ALL STILL GOOD : )

Our little apartment was two rooms, a kitchen and a bedroom/tv area... and we shared the bathroom with the people across the hall.. An unthinkable idea now days, for sure!
But it was fixed up cute, and we were together, and that is all that mattered!

Today, without thinking, I woke up semi early, let Homer out, fed the cat and dog, put on some coffee, went in and stripped the bed and started washing the sheets and more... Then I fixed french toast for breakfast, all this while I was still in my PJ's.. Well, here he came in from the bathroom dressed in nice jean and button up shirt.. I said, wow, look at you all dressed up.. He said, "I don't know what you are thinking, but today we are going out for the day" So, he took me to Lewisburg and we looked around here and there, went to Magic Mart (one of my favorite places) then we stopped at Bob Evans for a late lunch. YUM! After that we headed back to Covington.. stopped at my very favorite store The Good Will Store, and at Walmarts for a few extras for Sunday lunch. Then he ran by Mom's to see how she's doing, she's had so many health issues lately. And she insisted that we ate supper with them. So I told him he was taking me back to the seen of the crime : ) Mom and Gene got a good little chuckle out of that too.
After supper we ran by and picked up 'Abby' for the night, so she can go to church tomorrow. Poor Homer and Missy (our cat and dog) were glad to see us too. It's been a nice day, but it feels good being home too, and yes, I do have the dryer running now : )

Soul mate's Song
They say two halves make a whole and that explains so much.
Like why I feel a rush of love from the mere act of your touch.
And when I think about it as I'm sitting all alone.
I realize, that you're the one who makes me feel I'm finally home.
We must have been separated way back at time's beginning.
Although I didn't know it all my life I had been searching for you.
I know that you're the one for me I guess you'd call it fate.
Thank you for the life we've shared
My darling .. My Soul Mate.
My darling .. My Soul Mate.
It's not a feeling you can force you're born with it in your soul.
And for reasons so unknown to me until I married you I wasn't whole.
I didn't even know it Just accepted our loving fate.
Then you came along, singing my soul's song and I knew I'd found my mate.
I know that you're the one for me I guess you'd call it fate.
What to do, forever with you ?
My Love .. My Soul Mate

HONEY, WHY ARE YOU SO SPECIAL TO ME?
Because I know I can depend on you.
Because you know when to laugh at me and when to take me seriously.
Because you know what to repeat and what to keep to yourself.
Because you sense the feelings behind the words.
Because you always see something positive in me.
Because you are never fake but are always honest with me.
Because you are a giver not only of your time but of yourself.
Because you are a rare combination of strength and sensitivity.
Because you know me better than most people.
Because you are not afraid to step out into the unknown.
And most of all because I have the privilege of calling you my husband.

My Old Photos... Curious when I found two black-and-white negatives in a drawer, I had them made into prints.I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were of a younger, slimmer me, taken on one of my first dates with my husband. When I showed him the photos, his face lit up. "Wow, look at that!" he said with appreciation. "It's my old Chevy!"

The Anniversary Gift For their anniversary, a couple went out for a romantic dinner. Their teenage daughters said they would fix a dessert and leave it waiting. When they got home, they saw that the dining room table was beautifully set with china, crystal and candles, and there was a note that read: "Your dessert is in the refrigerator. We are staying with friends, so go ahead and do something we wouldn't do!"
"I suppose," the husband responded dryly, "we could clean the house."

Remember when I was young and so were you
and time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when
Remember when we vowed the vows and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when
Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when
Remember when the sound of little feet was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give up
Remember when
Remember when thirty seemed old
Now looking' back it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are,
Where we've been Said we'd do it all again
Remember when
Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and moved away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when
remember when
remember when
