IAN AND THE PUMPKIN PATCH
"But I want a tree house" Ian cried. "Well Son, the only space we have for a tree house is now in the pumpkin patch" Mommy replied. "So, that would be an awesome tree house Mommy!" "What, in the middle of the pumpkin patch? What are you thinking?" "I am thinking that I want a tree house and if that's the only place, then so be it!"  "Son! what do you expect us to do with all those pumpkins? It's still a little to early to pick them." "Didn't you hear the story about that place Mommy?" Ian ask. "What place are you talking about Ian?" "The pumpkin patch!" "The pumpkin patch? What? Ian, what are you talking about? That is the pumpkin patch! What story?" "Well, one night there was this young man who always what a pumpkin patch looked like, so he went down to our little ole pumpkin patch. He saw an old woman picking the pumpkins there, so he yelled out to the lady but she didn't turn around. He walked closer and then she turned around and said some words and the pumpkins disappeared! The man was so afraid that she was going to hurt him that he ran away. But my point is that it is said that whenever someone goes down there, all of the pumpkins disappear. So that solves the first problem!" "Well son, your Dad and I sell the pumpkins to help out with Christmas money, so even if that were true... we don't want anyone to just take them, or for them to disappear.
Besides that Ian, you can't believe all that stuff. Now son, drink your hot chocolate before it gets cold, and like I've told you before, you can't believe all that stuff you hear, and don't be making up stories, it's just not very nice and after a while, people won't believe anything you say." "I don't believe all the stuff I hear Mommy, and I don't believe everything you say either. How do yall sell them if they disappear before you even pick them?" "Ian, you silly, sassy little boy. Good thing I know you are just joking," Mommy said with a smirk. "Your Daddy and I take them to the farmers market when the time comes and they are ready to pick. People use them to decorate with and some they use for pies and such. You don't go because we've always took them while you were in
school, they do not disappear!"
"It don't seem fair that I never get to go with you and daddy. I want to go too and help take them and see who all buys them. Please Mommy, can I go with you and Daddy this time? I don't want to be left out again, please Mommy." "Alright Son, but if you go I guess we will have to just go on a Saturday, so you don't have to miss school. We will make a family day out of it, some of the vendors there have food to buy and we can just spend the day together, maybe it will be fun for you. Besides we can talk to Daddy and in the spring, maybe we can build you a tree house out near the old barn in that big ole chestnut tree. Just maybe that can be your and your Dad's special project." "when Mommy, when? I want my tree house now!" "Don't be impatient Son, this is a busy time for your Dad, and it will take a while to get all the supplies you will need. Be patient and be grateful, I said we will talk to your Dad about it!" "well okay then Mommy, tomorrow we will talk to Daddy, Right?... I am so tired now Mommy, I just want to go to bed. Thank you Mommy and Daddy, I love you!" Ian said. "Good night son, we love you too.. and yes, we will talk to him tomorrow. Sweet dreams."
